"Silent" is an animated short film created with Academy Award® winning Moonbot Studios and featuring its iconic character Morris Lessmore. It celebrates how storytellers, inventors, and technology work together to create cinema magic. "Silent" debuted at the Scientific and Technical Academy Awards on February 15, 2014 to support the Dolby's activation of its naming rights of the Dolby Theater.
The story follows two street performers who dream of bringing their "Picture and Sound Show" to life. When they discover a magical contraption inside an old theatre, they embark on a cinematic adventure of sight and sound to find the audience they always wanted.
The sound was created by Oscar® nominated sound designer Steve Boeddeker. Get a look at how "Silent" was made here: vimeo.com/87014798
The character representing "sound" became the heart of an identity system for Dolby's ATMOS technologies, playing at the start of movies in Dolby Cinemas.
